LITURGICAL
INCULTURATION IN ASIA
Liturgical
inculturation was perceived by the council fathers to be of such consequence to
the renewal of worship in local Churches that they approved four relatively
long articles on the subject, namely arts. 37-40. Following the example of
Christ, local Churches have the duty to incarnate themselves in the culture of
their people. In inculturation they will find an effective tool for active and
conscious participation. Through inculturation they will offer to Christ the
treasures of their local culture that possesses beauty, dignity, and nobility
worthy of divine worship.
This workshop is
designed for liturgists of Asia.
The program consists of lectures, group discussions, and inculturation
projects. The peace and quiet, cool weather, and prayerful environment of Paul
VI Institute of Liturgy provide an ideal setting for study, daily liturgical
worship, and meals and recreation in common.
